The Benefits And Challenges Of Artificial Intelligence For Recruitment
  • Tips

Artificial intelligence (AI) has been a hot topic within many industries in the past few years and the world of HR and recruitment is no different. With the emergence of Digital HR,  technologies, software and programs for HR and recruitment that utilizes artificial intelligence have grown tremendously with countless of options in the market.

If your company is looking to incorporate AI to improve your recruitment process, the first thing you need to understand is what are the benefits and challenges of AI.

Below are some of the benefits of Artificial Intelligence in recruitment:

  • AI could be used to minimize human bias and increase objectivity.
  • AI could be used to attract candidates that are more fitting for the role and minimize irrelevant applicants.
  • AI could be used to automate repetitive and manual tasks in the recruitment process.
  • AI can be used to speed up the recruitment process thus optimizing time to productivity.

Below are some of the challenges of Artificial Intelligence in recruitment:

  • AI works by finding patterns in data, this means if there is a flaw in the data collected, this will affect the accuracy of the artificial intelligence tool.
  • Data scarcity is another issue that may affect an Artificial Intelligence tool.
  • Data privacy is also an issue where many people may hesitate to give away too much of their data to an Artificial Intelligence tool.
  • Using too much artificial intelligence may also raise the concern of lack of human touch. Many people enjoy having actual interactions with people, some may argue that they perform better when they are in a two-way interaction with a human evaluator.

In conclusion, AI can bring many benefits to the recruitment industry, but it also has its challenges. Most people can agree that adopting some artificial intelligence tools for certain tasks could increase productivity, however, completely automating the entire recruitment process may not be a particularly good idea. Ideally, it is best to understand which parts of your recruitment process are better off to be automated and which parts are human judgment crucially needed.
